Stella & Chewy’s, maker of premium raw foods for pets, has recalled the brand’s Chicken Freeze-Dried Dinner Patties for Dogs after being issued a stop sale order from the Maryland Department of Agricultural because it tested positive for listeria.
Listeria is a bacterium that can severely sicken or even be fatal to pregnant, young children, the elderly and people with compromised immune systems, as well as pets.
According to the company’s website, the affected products were 15-ounce bags with the Lot # 111-15 and a use by date of April 23, 2016.
People who have purchased this are advised to exercise extreme caution. If you have any unopened bags, keep them sealed. Those who have already opened the bags are advised to use disposable rubber gloves place it in two plastic bags, tightly seal this and discard it, according to a recommendation on the Dog Food Advisor website.
